Former President Goodluck Jonathan Loses Elder Sister

Madam Obebhatein Jonathan, the older sister of former President Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, has passed away at the age of seventy.

She died on Thursday, January 11, 2024, at the Federal Medical Center in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, after a short illness.

Fondly known as Amissi, Madam Obebhatein Jonathan was a retired teacher and businesswoman. She was a devoted mother and grandmother who dedicated her life to serving God and humanity.

She was a devout Christian, and her virtuous nature made her a role model for many, both within and outside her community.

The family has announced that the burial will take place on Tuesday, February 16, 2024. Further details about the funeral arrangements will be communicated at a later date.

Madam Obebhatein Jonathan is survived by three children: her siblings, including former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, and her mother, Mama Eunice Afeni-Jonathan.
