Barcelona manager Xavi has surprisingly decided to remain at the club beyond this summer, despite previously announcing his intention to leave in January.

Three months ago, the Blaugrana manager informed reporters that he would be departing the club at the conclusion of the season. However, since then, several key figures within the team, including President Joan Laporta, have been trying to persuade him to stay and fulfill his contract. It appears that their efforts have been successful, as reports indicate that the manager will indeed continue. He is expected to fulfill his contract, which is set to run until the end of next season.

After announcing his resignation, Xavi has consistently stated that he does not intend to stay in Catalonia. He mentioned the need for a change and the negative impact on his mental health as reasons for his departure.

However, the club apparently did not start looking for a new manager, hoping that their current coach would decide to stay. Recent reports have suggested that Xavi might be willing to stay on as coach under certain conditions.

The Barca president asserted recently that he was keen on Xavi staying: “We will discuss this issue at the end of the season. [Xavi] is doing very well. He expressed himself in the sense in which he expressed himself, I understand that everything is open and everything is revisable. I understood that there had been circumstances that led him to do what he did. But at the end of the season, we will talk. There is time to talk about it.”
