Saratu Gidado, a veteran actress in Kannywood known as Daso, has passed away.
A local radio station in Kano State reported that the actress died in her sleep.
Her family members said she did not wake up on Tuesday morning after eating before starting the day’s Ramadan fast, Sahur.
Daso had been a prominent figure in the Hausa film industry for over 18 years.
Her outstanding performances and various roles made her popular with audiences in the Northern region.
Before becoming an actress, Saratu was a dedicated school teacher.
Tributes from the entertainment world continue to pour in as preparations are made for her funeral, scheduled for 4:00 pm.
