The national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and former governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, is set to appear in court on April 17, 2024, to face charges of alleged multibillion-dollar fraud.

Ganduje, along with his wife, son, and five others, will face eight-count charges related to allegations of dollar bribery, diversion, and misappropriation of funds, including $413,000 and N1.38 billion in alleged bribes.

The respondents named in the lawsuit are Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, Hafsat Umar, Abubakar Bawuro, Umar Abdullahi Umar, Jibrilla Muhammad, Lamash Properties Ltd, Safari Textiles Ltd, and Lesage General Enterprises, according to the writ of summon.

The Kano State Government, which filed the criminal suit against Ganduje and the other respondents, has lined up 15 witnesses to testify in court.

The case is scheduled for April 17, 2024, in front of Justice Usman Na’aba at State High Court number four.

The State Attorney General, Haruna Isah Dederi, confirmed that the case has been filed and all parties will be notified accordingly.

“It is very true. We have filed the case, but what I cannot confirm is whether he is served or not but he will definitely be served,” he told DailyTrust.

“What he (Ganduje) doesn’t understand is that you cannot run away from the evil day, it will definitely come to you and this will even serve as a deterrence to all of us.

“He was saying that we can’t prosecute him forgetting that the offense also falls under the category of the state offenses. It’s not totally a Federal affair.”
