President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Friady in Abuja announced the appointment of Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, as Chief of Staff.

Sen. Ibrahim Hassan Hadejia, a former Deputy Governor of Jigawa State, was also named Deputy Chief of Staff by the president.

In a meeting with the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF), President Buhari also named George Akume, a former Governor of Benue State and the immediate past Minister of Special Duties, as Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF).

Those present at the meeting were governors Babajide Sanwo-Olu (Lagos), Abdullahi Sule (Nasarawa), Umar Namadi (Jigawa), Inuwa Yahaya (Gombe), Yahaya Bello (Kogi), Professor Babagana Zulum (Borno), and Mai Mala Buni (Yobe).

Others are Uba Sani (Kaduna), Dikko Radda (Katsina), Father Hyacinth Alia (Benue), AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq (Kwara), Dapo Abiodun (Ogun), Umar Bago (Niger), Aliyu Ahmed (Sokoto), Francis Nwifuru (Ebonyi) and Bassey Otu (Cross River).

Oluwarotimi Akeredolu (Ondo), Biodun Oyebanji, and Dr Nasir Idris (Kebbi) were among the APC governors who did not attend the meeting.

Senator Kashim Shettima, Vice President, Tijjani Umar, Permanent Secretary of the State House, and Nuhu Ribadu, former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), were also present.

There are suggestions that the meeting, which will be President Tinubu’s first official interaction with the APC governors since his inauguration earlier this week, will include the selection of National Assembly leaders, ministerial appointments, and the current fuel crisis.
