The Supreme Court has upheld the election of Governor Ahmadu Fintiri as the Governor of Adamawa State.
Justice John Okoro, who prepared and delivered the lead judgment on Wednesday, dismissed the appeal made by Aisha Dahiru, the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The five-member panel, led by Justice John Okoro, stated that Dahiru’s appeal lacked merit. They also criticized the actions of the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Hudu Ari, deeming them irresponsible and criminal.
Justice Okoro emphasized the importance of the returning officer being the one to announce election results in order to prevent chaos and anarchy.
The speaker mentioned that according to the Electoral Act, the responsibility of declaring results lies solely with the returning officer.
