Salihu Lukman, the former Director General of the Progressives Governors Forum (PGF), has said that the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu shows a lack of concern for the challenges faced by Nigerians due to the exorbitant cost of living.

Lukman leveled the accusation in an op-ed piece called “Heartrending Musings,” released over the weekend.

The prominent APC member implored Tinubu to promptly take the necessary action to showcase his genuine democratic and progressive qualities.

He further advised the leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to encourage Tinubu’s government to become more receptive and cease behaving in a manner reminiscent of a military regime.

Lukman, the former national vice chairman of APC North-West, alleged that a significant number of the party’s elected and appointed officials in government have been behaving similarly, if not worse, than the PDP leaders they ousted in the 2015 election.

“Many of our leaders, who were in the frontline of the struggles against military rule and against the PDP, are today very comfortable and are behaving like emperors and tyrants,” he said.

“They impose their decisions on citizens and when citizens criticise them, they hurl insults and abuses in the same way old military regimes responded. The only difference is that cases of arrests and detention are no longer the case.”

In a similar vein, Shuaib Afolabi Salisu, the senator who represents Ogun Central Senatorial District, has urged the National Economic Team to devise effective measures that will alleviate the hardships faced by Nigerians, irrespective of what the economic indicators may suggest.

Salisu made this plea during a meeting with the National Economic Team, which was conducted in Abuja and attended by the Joint Senate Committee on Finance, National Planning, and Banking, Insurance, and Other Financial Institutions.
