In a recent military operation in the Orsu Local Government Area of Imo State, Nigerian Army personnel engaged in a fierce gun battle with Eastern Security Network (ESN) fighters.

The troops were able to defeat the insurgents, resulting in the elimination of one ESN fighter.

After the operation, a clearance mission was carried out at the hideout, leading to the discovery of three Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) and a variety of weapons and ammunition.

The Director of Army Public Relations, Maj. Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu, revealed that some of the items recovered included:

  • A Toyota Highlander SUV.
  • A Hilux vehicle.
  • Ammunition.
  • A locally fabricated single-barrel gun.
  • Proscribed Biafran uniforms.
  • Communication equipment.
  • Other paraphernalia.

In Abia State, troops engaged with IPOB fighters at a suspected crossing point. Major General Nwachukwu reported that the insurgents ran away, abandoning an AK-47 Rifle, magazines, and an FN Rifle.

The military is currently chasing after the insurgents to ensure security in the area.

He reassured that the military is dedicated to protecting communities and getting rid of threats from insurgent groups.

He promised ongoing efforts to keep peace and security in areas affected by the conflict.
