Soldier Kills Self In Ogun Barracks

The soldier was allegedly found lifeless in a pool of blood after his skull was severed by the bullet.

A Nigerian Army soldier named Boyi Thankgod, assigned to the 35 Artillery Brigade, Alamala, in Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun State, has reportedly shot himself dead.

Allub Times learned that the soldier shot himself in the head while on standby duty on Armed Forces Remembrance Day.

The soldier was allegedly found lifeless in a pool of blood after his skull was severed by the bullet.

A source at the Ogun Barracks confirmed the event to the Daily Trust, saying an inquiry is underway to determine the circumstances that led to his actions, and all troops present at the time of the incident have been detained.

The source said, “Yes, it’s true. The incident happened yesterday (Monday).

“The incident truly happened. Since yesterday, the military police have been investigating… all soldiers that were there when the incident happened, they were taken to the custody, took their statements and all the normal procedures.

“We are just waiting for the military police officers to conclude the investigation in order to determine what actually led to the incident.”

Meanwhile, at the time of publication, the brigade command’s spokesperson, Mohammed Goni, and the Police Command’s spokesman, Omolola Odutola, had yet to comment on the event.
