Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, stated on Friday that his administration will continue to provide purposeful governance and administrative efficiency to support the people of the state in engaging in ventures that bring honor.

Fubara made these remarks while hosting Stanley Nwabali, the Super Eagles goalkeeper who participated in the recently concluded 2023 African Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.

The governor announced a N20 million reward for Nwabali and also revealed that he would be honored with the Distinguished Service Star of Rivers State.

Fubara also presented N30 million to the Super Eagles’ crew, who were in attendance.

He said, “I want to join the great and wonderful people of Rivers State to congratulate you, our brother Stanley Nwabali, and our wonderful team.

“We are here again in just about four months after you won a local trophy.

“Today, you have brought a national trophy. So, when people say or talk behind us to ask what we are doing, we are achieving those things that are not, maybe, seen physically, but they give joy and fulfillment.

“If we have not encouraged you in a way that motivated you, you won’t be where you are. So, it is part of purposeful governance and administrative efficiency.

“So, I want to thank you and assure you that we will continue to do our best.”

The governor praised Nwabali, a native of Rivers, for his outstanding goalkeeping performance in the Super Eagles team during the recently concluded AFCON. He played alongside other patriotic players and has brought pride to Nigeria.

He encouraged the state’s residents to continue engaging in positive activities that showcase the state and bring honor to it.

The state’s Commissioner for Sports, Christopher Green, also commended Fubara for his support, which inspired the Rivers Hoopers Basketball Team to win the national league championship.

In addition, Chief Adokiye Amiesimaka, a former Commissioner for Justice and a former Super Eagles player, acknowledged the positive impact of sports development in the state and praised Fubara’s purposeful leadership.
