Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino has faced numerous injury setbacks this season, but he has finally received some good news.

He confirmed that Malo Gusto and Christopher Nkunku will be available for the match against Liverpool on Wednesday. Additionally, if Nicolas Jackson returns in time from the Ivory Coast after Senegal’s loss to the hosts, he may also be able to participate.

Speaking to the media on Tuesday, the Argentine said: “I think it is good news; Malo Gusto and Christoph [Nkunku] can be in the squad for tomorrow. Travel with us, with the team—that is good news. We will see. We will wait for the last moment, but at the moment, yes, it’s good news to have two players recovered. And to see maybe, why not, to arrive Nicolas Jackson for tomorrow and to be involved also in the game. If he can arrive.”

He also talked about Levi Colwill and Trevoh Chalobah’s availability: “Colwill and Chalobah? No. Levi is out. He suffered a minor injury in his tendon. It’s not a big issue but he is going to be out for tomorrow. Trevoh is really close. He is doing well. I think it’s only a matter of time before he’s going to be involved again. But he is doing really, really well.”

Pochettino is hoping that Nkunku’s return will improve his team’s performance, especially in scoring goals. Despite having the second-highest expected goals (xG) in the Premier League, the club is currently ranked ninth in terms of goals scored. Nkunku has already scored in the Premier League in December, but he recently faced a setback.
