Christopher Nkunku, 26, will be a part of Chelsea’s matchday roster when they take on Sheffield United, according to Mauricio Pochettino. Since joining the Premier League team in the summer after leaving RB Leipzig, the France international has not yet appeared in a formal game.
During a preseason friendly against Borussia Dortmund, Nkunku sustained a knee injury. Even though the pitch’s quality was mocked at the time, Pochettino insisted that the injury was just “bad luck.”
But Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino stated at a press conference on Friday that Nkunku will indeed make his eagerly anticipated comeback.
“He might be engaged. This is excellent news. We must remain silent and at ease. He will be under extreme pressure as a result. In a pre-match press conference that Fabrizio Romano transcribed, the Argentine manager stated, “He needs to evolve and know the Premier League.”
Malo Gusto, Nkunku’s fellow countryman, is also getting close to returning. The full-back has resumed first-team training, but it’s uncertain if he’ll be ready for Saturday’s Premier League match against Sheffield United.
