Many young players have been sent home from the first training session of the Golden Eaglets in Abuja on Thursday.

The Golden Eaglets began preparing for the WAFU U-17 Championship at the FIFA Goal Project Pitch on Thursday.

According to a report from SCORENigeria, head coach Manu Garba is focused on working with the 51 players he invited to camp.

Most of the invited players have completed the required MRI test and are eligible to play in the WAFU tournament.

Ghana will host the competition starting on May 15.

The Golden Eaglets are the current champions, having defeated Burkina Faso in the final two years ago.

The WAFU tournament will also serve as a qualifier for the Africa U-17 Cup of Nations.
