Abdullahi Ganduje, the former Governor of Kano State, stated that his position as the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is secure.

Ganduje mentioned that he had a meeting with President Bola Tinubu, who reassured him about his role as the APC National Chairman.

He also claimed that the Kano State government is behind the efforts to remove him from his position.

It is worth noting that Ganduje was suspended by his ward in Ganduje, DawakinTofa local government area of Kano State, on Monday due to allegations of corruption.

Haladu Gwanjo, the legal adviser of the ward, stated to journalists that the former Kano Governor is accused of serious misconduct and mismanagement of public funds during his time in office in Kano.

He stated that the Executive members of the ward decided to suspend Ganduje’s membership because they had no confidence in him. This decision was made due to his failure to clear his name from various corruption allegations, especially the video where he was seen allegedly receiving bribes from a contractor.

However, the Kano State Working Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) quickly intervened on Monday afternoon to prevent the suspension of the national chairman. They also removed the ward leaders responsible for the attempted suspension.

The APC Dawakin Tofa Local Government Chairman, Inusa Dawanau, told reporters that those who tried to suspend Ganduje were engaged in activities against the party. Their meetings with the opposition have been exposed.

After facing suspension and possible removal from office, Ganduje reassured his supporters at a political gathering that President Tinubu has confirmed his position as the APC National Chairman.

In his words: “I met with the President, and he told me that my position as APC Chairman, which the Kano State Government was trying to remove me from, will remain unchanged. He reaffirmed my position as APC National Chairman.”
