Breaking: Former Minister Ogbonnaya Onu Is Dead

Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu, the ex-Minister of Science and Technology, has passed away at the age of 72.

It has been reported that Onu died on Thursday morning at a hospital in Abuja.

His relatives in Ebonyi confirmed his death, stating that he had been ill for some time and that his family had planned to take him abroad for medical treatment after the Sallah break.

“He has been sick for some time this year, and his family said they would fly him abroad to get better medical treatment for him, but he could not make it till then,” the source said.

Onu, who was from Ebonyi State, served as the first civilian governor of Abia State and as Nigeria’s Minister of Science, Technology, and Innovation from November 2015 until his resignation in 2022.

It has been reported that his friends and family have been visiting his residence in Abuja to offer their condolences.
