Emefiele’s Woes Deepen As New Allegations Of Forgery, Corruption Surface

The new charges, which have been submitted to the Federal Capital Territory High Court, go beyond the initial allegations of procurement fraud.

HThe charges against former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor Godwin Emefiele have been revised by the Federal Government.

The new charges, which have been submitted to the Federal Capital Territory High Court, go beyond the initial allegations of procurement fraud. They now also include accusations of forgery, conferring of corrupt advantage, and criminal breach of trust.

Initially, there were 19 charges filed in August 2023, all related to alleged procurement fraud that occurred during Emefiele’s time as the head of the CBN. However, the government has since reduced the number of charges to six.
