Ekiti Govt Breaks Silence On Killing Of Monarchs By Suspected Herdsmen

The governor of Ekiti State, Biodun Oyebanji, has instructed security agencies to find and apprehend the individuals responsible for the murder of two traditional rulers in the Oke-Ako area of Ikole Local Government Area.

Oyebanji expressed his condemnation of the attack, which occurred on Monday and resulted in the brutal killing of the two traditional rulers.

The Ekiti State Government released a statement confirming that the Onimojo of Imojo Ekiti, Oba Olatunde Samuel Olusola, and the Elesun of Esun Ekiti, Oba David Babatunde Ogunsola, were ambushed and killed by armed men while returning from a meeting.

The statement also mentioned that the Alara of Ara-Ekiti, Oba Adebayo Fatoba, narrowly escaped the attack.

Oyebanji, through his spokesperson, Yinka Oyebode, announced that security agents have been deployed to the area to apprehend the perpetrators of this heinous crime.

“The Governor, who had just presided over the state security council meeting in Ado-Ekiti, barely an hour before the incidence occurred, said no stone will be left unturned in the bid to bring the perpetrators to justice,” Oyebode said.

“He expressed the condolences of the Government and people of Ekiti State to the people of Imojo Ekiti and Esun Ekiti over the sad incidence.”

Oyebanji also urged the residents of both communities to stay calm and avoid taking matters into their own hands.

The governor assured that the Ekiti State Government would ensure that justice was served.

Oyebanji emphasized the importance of the state’s security agencies remaining vigilant and determined in their efforts to eliminate crime and criminal activities in Ekiti.

He reiterated his government’s commitment to safeguarding the lives and properties of the state’s citizens, stating that his administration would continue to utilize technology for crime detection and prevention, as well as provide necessary assistance to the security agencies.
