The residents of Iru Egbede community in Orhionmwon Local Government Area of Edo State have requested the help of security agencies in locating a missing 200-level student of Delta State University, DELSU.
Allub Times learned that the student, Miss Faith Omodon, from the Department of Public Administration, has been missing since March 30, 2024.
The community members expressed their sadness and shock over the disappearance.
Reports indicate that the DELSU student was last seen on March 30, when she left home to go to the farm.
Mr. Edward Omodon, the girl’s father, mentioned that his daughter went to the farm on that day and has not been seen since.
“The whole incident happened when we were holding our national conference.
“We usually have Iru national conference at this time of the year. We were seated inside the community hall when we heard loud wailing outside that my daughter was missing.
“She had left for the farm earlier that morning with a motorbike taking her breakfast flask with her,” he said.
Mr. Ikpoba Johnbull, the leader of the village vigilante group, also spoke about the situation. He mentioned that when they heard about the girl’s disappearance in the evening, they accompanied her mother to the farm.
Johnbull added that the vigilante group quickly organized a search and thoroughly checked the area all the way to Izighiri and Uwumuwe, two nearby villages, but unfortunately, they did not find any sign of the missing girl.
“We only found the leftover of her lunch flask. We informed neighbouring vigilante groups as we spent that night inside the bushes but there was no result.
“We then asked Mr Omodon to formally report a case of missing person at the Abudu Police Division,” he added.
The National Youth chairman of the community, Mr. Donald Egboko, asked security agencies to help locate the missing girl.
The Divisional Police Officer in charge of Abudu, Mr. Iyayi Kenneth, confirmed that the incident was reported at the station and mentioned that the case has been transferred to the State Police Command for more investigation.
However, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Chidi Nwabuzor, stated, “I will find out from the CID department and get back to you.”
