Nigerian singer Rema shocked the audience at the 2024 Dreamville Festival in North Carolina when he abruptly stopped his performance on Sunday.
He was in the middle of singing his popular song ‘Calm Down’ on the second day of the festival at Dix Park in Raleigh when he paused to express his dissatisfaction with the sound quality.
Rema then walked off the stage, emphasizing the need for African artists to have the same level of sound quality as their Western counterparts when performing on international platforms.
He said, “Hold on, there are too many sound issues. It’s messing up my whole performance. I’m seriously not feeling this sh*t.
“I’m representing Africa, this is too messed up. If the sound cannot be perfect for every artist that get on this stage… Africa is in the house and you are messing sh*t up?”
Dreamville Festival was founded by the American hip-hop artist J. Cole.
