The Department of State Services (DSS) has denied that Bello Bodejo, the president of Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, is in detention.

DSS spokesperson Peter Afunanya issued the explanation in answer to questions regarding Bodejo’s reported detention for revealing the identity of a vigilante group in Nasarawa State.

“He’s not with the DSS,” Afunanya said.

Bodejo had announced the formation of a “Nomad vigilante group” made up of 1,144 Fulani youths from various villages throughout the 13 LGAs to assist security authorities in combating criminal activity in the north-central state.

“Every ethnic group has criminal elements among them, so if a Fulani man or woman commits a crime, he or she should be treated as a criminal just like others and not a Fulani criminal,” Bodejo had said.
