DSS Arrests Emefiele’s Deputy, Aisha Ahmad

Sources say the Apex Bank deputy governor was detained for fraudulently acquiring shares in Polaris Bank, Titan Bank/Union Bank.

The Department of State Security (DSS) is said to have arrested and detained Aisha Ahmad, the Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) in responsibility of Financial System Stability.

Sources say the Apex Bank deputy governor was detained for fraudulently acquiring shares in Polaris Bank, Titan Bank/Union Bank.

According to reports, Aisha Ahmad is currently being interrogated and has revealed how Titan Bank raised $300 million to complete the acquisition of Union Bank.

The circumstances surrounding the arrest are still unknown. The arrest has not been confirmed or disputed by the CBN or the DSS.

Visitodell reports that Godwin Emefiele, Ahmed’s former CBN boss, remains in DSS detention more than two months after his arrest.

Emefiele, the suspended Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, was initially accused with firearm possession before being charged with N6.9 billion fraud.
