Peter Obi Speaks On ‘Leaving’ Labour Party Ahead Of 2027 Presidential Race

Published:

Before the 2027 presidential election, Peter Obi responded to rumors about him leaving the Labour Party.

Obi, who was the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in 2023, denied the rumors and emphasized his commitment to resolving issues peacefully.

He rubbished the rumours on Sunday, April 7, 2024, while donating a borehole to Pantami Sheep Market in Gombe State, a market that serves thousands of business owners and households.

Obi mentioned that he is traveling to different states in the country to help people, especially during the Ramadan fasting period for Muslim faithful.

Recently, the Labour Party has experienced internal conflicts, with Julius Abure at the center of the controversy.

Some party members believed Abure’s time as LP chairman was over, but at a recent national convention in Anambra, he was re-elected.

This decision has been opposed by many party members and the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), who insist that Abure should step down,

On the other hand, the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) stated that Obi is welcome to leave the Labour Party if he wishes to do so.
