Three suspects involved in the killing of 17 officers and men from the 181 Amphibious Battalion, Nigerian Army, in Otuama, Delta State, last Thursday have been apprehended.

According to Vanguard, the suspects were captured in Port Harcourt and have been taken to Army headquarters in Asaba for questioning.

Meanwhile, the military has deployed swamp buggies to the besieged Okuama community in Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State as part of their efforts to continue the demolition of the community.

The two swamp buggies were unloaded from trailer trucks onto barges at the Bomadi Police Division waterfront and then transported to the creeks.

A source from a nearby community reported seeing the heavy vehicles being moved on barges through their waterways towards Okuama.

“Yes, I saw them passing through our river towards Okuama. They’re heavy machines, but nobody can tell their mission there,” she said.

The chairman of the Akugbene community in Bomadi Local Government Area of Delta State has been released from detention by the military Joint Task Force, JTF, Bomadi Division.

The community chairman and others were detained on Monday for allegedly harboring the fleeing chairman of Okuama and other suspects.

They were released after producing the alleged perpetrators who were under the community’s custody.

The security situation in Bomadi and its surroundings remains tense, with armored vehicles and uniformed men strategically positioned in the town.
