A mosque in Tsafe town, the headquarters of Tsafe Local Government Area in Zamfara State, Nigeria, was reportedly attacked by armed bandits.

According to a resident named Abubakar Tsafe, the attackers parked their motorcycles outside the city and entered wearing traditional clothing to avoid being noticed.

During the attack, the bandits surrounded the mosque and kidnapped an unknown number of worshipers, causing concern about the worsening security situation in Zamfara State.

In response, the Zamfara State Community Protection Guards, also known as Askarawa, led by Commander Retired Colonel Rabiu Yandoto, have been deployed to rescue the kidnapped victims by conducting operations in the bush.

Criminal elements in Zamfara State frequently carry out violent acts like abductions and community attacks, prompting the mobilization of the protection guards.

As of now, the Zamfara State Police Command has not officially confirmed the incident.
