APC Chieftain Slumps To Death While Watching Super Eagles Match

The politician died on Wednesday night while watching the AFCON 2023 semi-final between Nigeria and South Africa.

Cairo Ojougboh, an All Progressives Congress (APC) leader and former House of Representatives member representing Delta State’s Ika federal seat, has died.

The politician died on Wednesday night while watching the AFCON 2023 semi-final between Nigeria and South Africa.

According to a source quoted by LEADERSHIP, Ojougboh died “as soon as a penalty kick was awarded against Nigeria during the AFCON match with South Africa on Wednesday’s semi-final clash in Bouake, Ivory Coast, he slumped.”

Allub Times reports that the semi-final tie ended 1-1 after extra time, with the Super Eagles prevailing on penalties, resulting in widespread euphoria online and offline.

Cairo Ojougboh, a doctor who later became a politician, was born on September 8, 1959, in Delta State’s Ika South LGA.

He served as the Presidential Spokesman for the APC’s Delta State Presidential Campaign.

He was also a candidate for governor of Delta State under the APC in 2019.

Ojougboh also served as the Deputy National Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) from September 2016 to August 2017, until joining the APC on September 16, 2017.
