Tafida Wins House Of Representatives Supplementary Election In Taraba

Sadiq Tafida, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has been elected as the representative for the Jalingo/Yorro/Zing federal constituency in Taraba State.

Tafida, who is 32 years old and the son of the Emir of Muri, Alhaji Abbas Njiddah Tafida, received a total of 19,681 votes in the rerun and supplementary polls held on Wednesday.

The results were announced on Thursday by the returning officer, Professor Olarenwaju Oladipo, a lecturer at the University of Wukari.

Tafida emerged as the winner of the closely contested rerun election in Taraba, with Innocent Jabayang of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) coming in second with 16,379 votes, and Aminu Malle of the All Progressive Congress (APC) receiving 12,662 votes.

The election was highly competitive, according to the returning officer. Aminu Liman, the candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), received 3,646 votes.

The rerun election for the House of Representatives took place on February 3, 2024, in the state. However, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared it inconclusive.
