Ayo Edebiri is making waves in Hollywood this year, clinching prestigious awards one after another.

Following her Best Actress wins at the Critics Choice Awards and Golden Globe Awards, she added another feather to her cap at the Emmy Awards by securing the title of Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series.

Ayo Edebiri took a moment during her acceptance speech to express gratitude to her parents, who were present at the ceremony.

In her heartfelt acceptance speech, Edebiri acknowledged the family-centric theme of the show, thanking her parents for their love and support.

She humorously mentioned keeping them seated far away due to her rebellious nature. She thanked them for allowing her to feel beautiful, Black, and proud. Reflecting on their immigrant journey and her unconventional career choice, she affectionately called them “real ones.”

Sharing her thoughts on her character Sydney Adamu on The Bear, Edebiri later told Deadline that she looks forward to portraying Sydney’s journey to gain more confidence.

She values the opportunity to depict a character with flaws and chaos, finding it both challenging and enjoyable.

In a competitive field that included talented actresses such as Alex Borstein, Janelle James, Sheryl Lee Ralph, Juno Temple, Hannah Waddingham, and Jessica Williams, Edebiri emerged victorious.
