Tottenham has received another injury blow as Rodrigo Bentancur is reportedly out for three months due to a tackle from Matty Cash.
Bentancur, who had just returned from a serious injury, only lasted 26 minutes in Tottenham’s 2-1 defeat to Aston Villa.
Despite receiving treatment on the field, he was unable to continue and had to be substituted. According to Sky Sports, Bentancur has damaged his ankle ligament and will need at least two-and-a-half months to recover, keeping him out of action until February 2024.
Bentancur joins a long list of players in rehabilitation, including James Maddison, Micky van de Ven, Richarlison, Manor Solomon, Ivan Perisic, and Cristian Romero.
In January, Tottenham will face further challenges as Yves Bissouma and Pape Matar Sarr will leave for international duty, and skipper Son Heung-min will compete in the Asian Cup with South Korea.
Tottenham’s manager, Ange Postecoglou, faces a tough task as his team prepares to face Manchester City in the Premier League next Sunday. The team has had a difficult November, suffering three consecutive defeats and dropping to fifth place in the standings. The match against City will be another test of Tottenham’s character.
