The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has called for an emergency security meeting to address the increasing violent crime in the nation’s capital.
Bandits have been operating with boldness and without fear in the capital recently.
Just a few days ago, several residents, including a 13-year-old student, were killed because they couldn’t meet the deadline for a ransom payment.
Wike assured the residents of the FCT that their safety was guaranteed during the meeting. He mentioned that the government is actively working to provide security agents with all the necessary resources to combat insecurity.
The closed-door summit is currently ongoing and is attended by heads of security agencies in the FCT, top officials of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), council chairmen, and traditional rulers.
