In the course of winning a third Premier League match in a row, West Ham shocked Arsenal and hindered their title hopes.

West Ham put on a merciless show, scoring on two of their three shots on goal, while Arsenal wasted numerous opportunities and lost the chance to take the lead in the league.

Despite the possibility that the ball had left play during the build-up, Tomas Soucek’s shot on Jarrod Bowen’s cutback was enough for the video assistant referee to rule in favour of the goal.

That gave West Ham the lead at the break, which they doubled in the 55th minute when Konstantinos Mavropanos, a former center-back for Arsenal, headed in a corner with skill.

Arsenal had a lot of possession and applied pressure, but they were unable to respond.

And in the last minute of injury time, Declan Rice handed away a penalty, almost adding insult to injury to their miserable evening. However, David Raya stopped Said Benrahma’s shot.

As a result, Mikel Arteta’s Gunners are now two points behind league leaders Liverpool in the standings, while West Ham finishes the year with 33 points, which is a record for them at this juncture in a Premier League season.
