Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 elections, has reiterated that he did not lose the 2023 presidential election.
Obi, who was speaking on X Space, organized by the Obidient Movement in conjunction with Parallelfacts, highlighted the significant impact of his followers, known as Obidients, both in Nigeria and around the world, stating that their influence cannot be underestimated.
He also urged his supporters to take pride in their accomplishments during the 2023 election, viewing it as a crucial stepping stone for future success.
He said, “We did not lose the election of 2023; we won. Your (Obidients) impact was felt all over the world, and you can’t take that for granted.
“It’s actually a stepping stone, hold your head high and celebrate. Together, a new Nigeria is possible.”
The winner of the 2023 presidential election was declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to be Bola Tinubu, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Tinubu beat 17 other candidates in the election, receiving a total of 8,794,726 votes, the highest among all candidates, meeting the first constitutional requirement to win.
He also got over 25% of the votes in 30 states, surpassing the 24 states needed by the constitution.
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakr of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) came in second with 6,984,520 votes.
Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP) took third place with 6,101,533 votes, while Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNP) came fourth with 1,496,687 votes.
