Governor Hope Uzodimma dissolved his cabinet on Tuesday, the day after being sworn in for a second term as the governor of Imo State.
He made this announcement during a meeting at the Sam Mbawke Executive Chambers at the Government House in Owerri.
The governor expressed his gratitude to all the cabinet members and appointees for their contributions to the successful completion of his first term in office.
He also apologized for any wrongdoing towards any appointee during his first term and promised to include everyone in his second term for the benefit and progress of the state.
Governor Uzodimma stated that his first term has officially ended and his second term has begun, so he needs to restructure the system to adapt to the current situation.
He is expected to form a new cabinet by nominating commissioners and seeking confirmation from the state assembly.
The governor was sworn in on Monday at approximately 3:24 p.m. at the Dan Ayiam Stadium in Owerri, the capital of Imo State.
The deputy governor, Lady Chinyere Ekomaru, also took her oath of office just minutes before the governor’s inauguration.
The event was attended by thousands of residents of Imo State, as well as guests from both within and outside the state.
Notable figures in attendance included President Bola Tinubu, former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas, and other prominent members of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
During his speech at the event, Uzodimma expressed his commitment to surpassing his achievements in his first term.
He expressed gratitude to the people of the state for their unwavering support. Uzodimma drew inspiration from the Apostle Paul in the Bible, stating that his determination to improve Imo would drive him to do even more in his second term.
Additionally, he extended his appreciation to President Tinubu for attending the event and commended him for consistently supporting both him and the state.
