The Nasarawa State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal on Monday overturned Governor Abdullahi Sule’s victory in the March 18 governorship election.
The three-member panel, chaired by Justice Ezekiel Ajayi, announced the winner, Emmanuel Ombudagu of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, through zoom.
Two of the justices agreed that the PDP had won the election, but one judge disagreed.
Ezekiel insisted that the petitioner had proven his case beyond a reasonable doubt.
Former governors Abdullahi Adamu and Tanko Al-makura were among those present in the court.
In March, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Lafia pronounced Abdullahi Sule the winner of the Nasarawa State governorship election.
Prof Ishaya Tanko, the INEC returning officer, stated that the APC candidate received 347,209 votes, defeating the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, David Ombugadu, who received 283, 016 votes.
