A bull owned by a Kenyan senator has caused shock and sadness in Kakamega County after it killed its caretaker.

The bull, named Inasio, became aggressive and attacked Kizito Moi, who had been training bulls for over 20 years.

Moi’s body was found on Sunday morning with severe injuries to his head, neck, stomach, and back.

Senator Boni Khalwale, the owner of the bull, explained that he had speared the bull as per the local Luhya community traditions, and the meat would be shared among the villagers.

Khalwale mentioned that it is uncommon for animals to turn on their keepers, with the last incident occurring in the area about 30 years ago.

The bull, weighing 120kg and five years old, had recently won the local competitions and was considered the reigning champion.

Senator Khalwale is known for organizing bullfighting competitions, which are popular in western Kenya and attract thousands of locals who consider the owners of the winning bulls to be heroes.
