A group of suspected terrorists kidnapped a Chinese national and killed a Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) officer in Obangede, Okehi Local Government Area of Kogi State, on Thursday morning.

The NSCDC officer who died was part of the security team protecting the abducted Chinese road engineer.

The identities of the abducted individual and the deceased officer have not been confirmed yet. The state police spokesperson, William Ovye Aya, said he would provide more information later.

The incident follows a similar one on February 3, where about 14 passengers of God Is Good (GIG) Motors and ABC Transport were kidnapped in Kogi while traveling to Abuja.

The passengers, who were traveling from the southeast region, were released after a few days in captivity.

The gunmen stopped the vehicles, took the passengers, and demanded a N15 million ransom from each person for their release.
