Governor Yusuf returned to Kano State on Sunday and was greeted by a large crowd of supporters who came out to welcome him and celebrate his legal victory.
Allub Times reports that the streets were filled with people as the Governor made his way through the state.
Governor Yusuf expressed his gratitude to the people of Kano for their love and support, stating that he will always remember this moment.
He stated that the crowd’s warmth and unity was something he will remember for many years.
He also vowed to reciprocate the people’s faith in him by working for the betterment of the state.
“The resounding love and long march of solidarity that greeted my arrival in Kano yesterday, after Friday’s Supreme Court verdict, is one that will reverberate across many years.
“As I stated, this serves as a great reminder about the task before us of repaying the confidence that the good people of Kano have in our leadership. We shall not take it for granted.” Governor Yusuf wrote.
Last Friday, the Supreme Court confirmed Abba Yusuf of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) as the rightful Governor of Kano State.
Justice John Okoro, who delivered the main judgement, stated that the lower court made a mistake by deducting 165,616 votes from Governor Yusuf’s total votes.
