The Supreme Court on Friday rejected an appeal filed by Ladi Adebutu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) contesting the victory of Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State in the March 18, 2023, governorship election.

Adebutu’s appeal alleges that Governor Abiodun’s election did not follow electoral laws and did not result in a legitimate majority of votes. As a result, he requested that his triumph be declared null and invalid.

However, on Friday, the Supreme Court dismissed the appeal for lack of merit, upholding Governor Abiodun’s electoral victory.
