Manchester United are reported to be interested in signing Stuttgart centre forward Serhou Guirassy, who is currently in battle for the Bundesliga golden boot against Harry Kane.
Despite paying an eye-watering £72 million for Rasmus Hojlund five months ago, Manchester United is considering a January transfer for the Bundesliga’s top scorer after three Lions captain, Kane because they are dissatisfied with their attacking options.
With a £15 million release clause, Serhou Guirassy is thought to be able to compete with Hojlund, who has shown glimpses of his ability after hamstring surgery but is still very inconsistent.
Top of the Old Trafford January’s wish list is Guirassy, who has 15 goals in 10 Bundesliga games. The 27-year-old international player for Guinea only moved permanently to Stuttgart this summer, having spent the previous season on loan from Rennes.
Although Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s £1.3 billion deal to purchase a 25% stake in the team is still pending, Erik ten Hag, the head coach of United, is also eager to bring in a new centre back. As a result, United’s recruitment plans are on hold.
After suffering yet another self-inflicted draw away to Galatasaray on Wednesday, United is barely hanging on to hopes of moving forward in the Champions League. They need to win at Old Trafford against Bayern Munich later this month and hope that the outcome between Copenhagen and Galatasaray goes their way.
United travels to rival top-four contenders Newcastle United tomorrow night, missing as many as eight players due to injury.
