Tottenham climbed above Aston Villa to fourth place by defeating Nottingham Forest 3-1 in an exciting match.
Ange Postecoglou’s team struggled towards the end of the first half, allowing Forest a chance to take the lead, but they regained control in the second half and earned a well-deserved win.
The home team started strong with their usual quick passing and movement, but they had a scare when Forest’s Murillo almost scored from an incredible 80 yards out.
Shortly after, Murillo accidentally scored an own goal, deflecting a cross from Timo Werner into his own net.
Chris Wood scored a crucial goal that caught Spurs off guard, even though they were being outplayed in the first half. Wood had a chance to score again but hit the post instead.
Postecoglou made two midfield substitutions at halftime, bringing on Bentancur and Hojbjerg, which helped Spurs take control of the game.
The defenders, van de Ven and Porro, then scored two goals in quick succession, sealing the win for Spurs. Forest never really threatened a comeback.
With this victory, Spurs move ahead of Villa in the standings on goal difference, with a game in hand. Forest remains in 17th place, just above Luton on goal difference, but this could change if Everton receive a points deduction.
