Soldiers Rescue Abducted Victim In Nasarawa, Capture Suspect

On Thursday, troops from the Nigerian Army stopped a kidnapping incident on the busy Nasarawa-Kefi Road.

The suspected kidnappers had assaulted the victim and taken him away.

After receiving calls for help from local residents, the troops launched a rescue mission along the road.

In a statement released on Friday, the Nigerian Army reported that the troops quickly arrived and prevented the victim from being abducted.

The post read, “Troops of the Nigerian Army responding to a distress call have foiled a kidnap attempt along Nasarawa- Keffi Road close to the Federal Polytechnic Nasarawa State and rescued the victim.

“The troops carried out the rescue operation on Thursday, April 4, 2024, during a routine patrol along Nasarawa- Keffi Road in the Nasarawa Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.

“The criminals had launched an attack on the unsuspecting civilian in an attempt to abduct him, but the troops who were quickly alerted by vigilant members of the neighborhood, swiftly intervened and averted the situation, rescuing the civilian.”

The Army reported that one of the suspected kidnappers was arrested after being shot during a gun battle with the troops.

“The troops also apprehended one of the kidnappers, who had sustained injury in a shootout with the criminals. The injured suspect and the rescued kidnap victim who also suffered minor injuries during the foiled kidnap have been promptly evacuated to a hospital for medical attention,” the post added.

According to The PUNCH, troops rescued a total of 1,241 kidnapped hostages in various operations carried out nationwide from January to March 2024.
