Senators Hold Closed-Door Session With Service Chiefs Over Delta Massacre

The heads of Nigerian security agencies met with the Senate Joint Committee, which includes the Army, Navy, Defence, and Airforce committees, to discuss the investigation into the killing of 17 soldiers in a Delta State community.

The soldiers were ambushed and killed while on a peacekeeping mission in Okuama community in the Ughelli South Local Government Area.

Due to the sensitive nature of the issue, the Chairman of the joint committee, Ahmed Lawan, announced that the investigative hearing will be conducted privately.

Ahmed Lawan, the chairman of the joint committee, stated that the investigation hearing will be held privately because of the sensitive nature of the subject.

Lawan said: “I extend my profound condolences to the families of these fallen soldiers, their colleagues, and their loved ones. The military high command is already responding to this incident. The cowardly offenders responsible for this heinous crime will not go unpunished.”
