The Nigerian Senate will be reevaluating the three-month suspension imposed on Bauchi Central Senator, Abdul Ningi for accusing the 2024 budget of being padded with N3.7 trillion.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio announced on Friday that Ningi’s suspension will be reviewed and resolved internally, like a family matter.

Allub Times reports that Akpabio made this announcement while speaking to reporters after returning to the country from the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) meeting in Geneva, Switzerland.

Regarding the letter sent by Ningi’s lawyer, Femi Falana, demanding the senator’s reinstatement within seven days or facing legal action, Akpabio mentioned that he has not seen the letter yet, but is assured that the issue is being given proper attention.

The Senate President expressed hope that Ningi would return to his seat sooner than anticipated.

“It is a parliamentary decision. I have not seen the letter yet. But Senator Ningi is one of us. I mean, what is suspension?

“I believe that in a few days he will join us. So, there is no problem. It would be resolved amicably. The Senate is a family,” Akpabio said.
