A Russian military transport plane crashed in the Ivanovo region northeast of Moscow after catching fire during takeoff.

The IL-76 aircraft had eight crew members and seven passengers on board when it experienced an engine fire, causing it to crash.

Videos on social media showed the plane descending with one engine on fire, followed by a column of black smoke at the crash site.

The Russian Defense Ministry acknowledged the incident but did not give details on casualties.

This crash follows another IL-76 incident a few weeks ago, which Moscow said involved a plane carrying Ukrainian prisoners of war.
