The appointment of the service chiefs recently announced by President Bola Tinubu has been confirmed by the House of Representatives.
Their confirmation came after the House ad hoc committee that screened them approved its report.
The service chiefs confirmed are Maj. Gen. Christopher Musa (Chief of Defence Staff), Maj. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja (Chief of Army Staff), Rear Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla (Chief of Naval Staff), and AVM Hassan Abubakar (Chief of Air Staff).
The green chamber began screening the service chiefs on Monday, only days after the red chamber ratified the appointment of the military leaders.
The screening committee was chaired by House Majority Leader Julius Ihonvbere.
Babajimi Benson, Chairman of the House Adhoc Committee, had stated that personnel of the Armed Forces must rigorously comply to the terms of the Appropriation Act and urged them to collaborate by sharing intelligence.
He also stated that if the service heads are confirmed, the National Assembly will examine their performance.
The new service heads were appointed by the President on June 19, 2023, exactly three weeks after his inauguration.
