Manchester City will begin their quest for a historic fourth consecutive Premier League title against Burnley, who will be led by their former captain, Vincent Kompany.

The fixture list, which was revealed on Thursday, confirms that the Treble champions will visit Turf Moor on August 11 to kick off the 2023/24 season.

Kompany, who won the title four times as a City captain, will play his former club for the second time as a manager, with City winning 6-0 at the Etihad in the FA Cup quarter-finals in March.

Pep Guardiola’s team, who won the Premier League, Champions League, and FA Cup in 2022/23, is attempting to become the first English team to win four straight top-flight titles.

They have dominated the Premier League in recent years, winning it five times in the last six years.

The next day, Luton Town will play their first Premier League match since 1992, away at Roberto De Zerbi’s Brighton.

Sheffield United, the other promoted team, will begin their season at home against Crystal Palace.

The most anticipated game of the opening weekend will be at Stamford Bridge, where Mauricio Pochettino will make his debut as Chelsea manager against Liverpool, with both teams trying to rebound from poor seasons.

Arsenal, who finished second in the Premier League, will face Nottingham Forest at home, while Newcastle will face Aston Villa and Manchester United will face Wolves at Old Trafford.

Tottenham’s first game under Ange Postecoglou will be against Brentford.Bournemouth welcome Europa Conference League winners West Ham, as Everton begin their relegation battle at home against Fulham.

City will visit Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium in early October after finishing five points ahead of the Gunners last season.

The champions will face Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool in late November in the first Manchester derby since City matched United’s Treble-winning feat of 1999 at the end of that month.

The schedule, which returns to normal after the World Cup in Qatar disrupted the 2022/23 season, features a mid-season break in mid-January, with the 10 games spread across two weekends.

The campaign finishes on May 19, 2024.
