Thousands of members of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) gathered in Abuja on Sunday for a prayer walk, seeking divine help for Nigeria’s current security and economic problems.
The event was led by Pastor Tunde Benjamin Laniyi from the RCCG Throne Room in Transcorp Abuja.
This prayer walk is an annual event organized by RCCG and is held in 190 countries worldwide. This year’s theme was “HEALING.”
During the prayer walk, Pastor Laniyi stressed the belief that divine intervention can overcome any challenge.
The congregation prayed for healing in the country and asked God to address Nigeria’s urgent issues. In his sermon, Pastor Laniyi encouraged Nigerians to keep praying for divine guidance for the country’s leaders. He expressed confidence that through prayer, Nigeria would find healing.
Former Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Lucky Irabor (retired), spoke to the congregation and recognized the security and economic challenges facing the country. Despite this, he emphasized the importance of maintaining hope.
He encouraged Nigerians, particularly the youth, to remain hopeful and have faith in the nation.
Gen. Irabor highlighted the significant role that the youth play in the growth and success of the country.
“My appeal to the youth is that they should not lose hope. They should have faith in our nation because the health of the country lies in their hands and it’s yet to be tapped, and we can succeed only when we look beyond the ordinary,” he said.
He mentioned that Nigeria faces similar challenges to other countries as they strive for development.
