Controversial Nollywood actor Yul Edochie has urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to free Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, or IPOB.
Kanu has been imprisoned since he was apprehended and returned to Nigeria from Kenya two years ago.
The IPOB leader was apprehended because of his advocacy for Biafra’s independence.
Despite court orders, the Nigerian government has refused to release Kanu.
On Tuesday morning, Edochie pleaded with Tinubu, whom he characterized as a man who has struggled for democracy for three decades, to release Kanu from the custody of the Department of State Security (DSS).
“To our Leader, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, @officialABAT GCFR. The Jagaban,” Edochie tweeted.
“A man who has fought for democracy for 3 decades, A builder & supporter of men & women.
“My President, please release Nnamdi Kanu. A humble request from your son, Yul Edochie.”
