Senegal continued their perfect run in the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament by defeating Guinea 2-0, despite Sadio Mane’s unfortunate miss.

At the beginning of the match, Senegal did not display much urgency since they had already secured a spot in the knockout stage. As a result, it was not surprising that the first half ended without any goals being scored.

However, in the 56th minute, Mane had a great opportunity to score when he intercepted the ball from a Guinea defender and found himself one-on-one with Ibrahim Kone.

Although he managed to get past the goalkeeper, Mane’s heavy touch caused him to miss the target with his final shot.

Finally, in the 61st minute, Senegal broke the deadlock as Abdoulaye Seck headed the ball into the net from Krepin Diatta’s perfectly executed free-kick.

In stoppage time, substitute Iliman Ndiaye secured the victory for Senegal by scoring a goal after receiving a pass from Mane. This win ensured that Senegal maintained their 100% win record in the group stage.

Maccabi Haiba defender Abdoulaye Seck became a hero for Senegal when he scored a fantastic header just after the hour mark. This goal changed the game and gave his team a lot of momentum going into the knockout stages.

Former Liverpool star Mane had a frustrating game against Guinea. He had several chances to score, but couldn’t find the back of the net. In the 56th minute, he had the easiest opportunity to score but missed the target completely. He did manage to score a goal later in the game, but it was disallowed because he was offside.

The team led by Kalidou Koulibaly will enter the knockout stage with a perfect record of winning all their matches. They will play their round of 16 match on January 29. Guinea also advanced to the next round, even though they lost, by qualifying as one of the best third-ranked teams.
