POLITICS – An Abuja Federal Capital Territory High Court has issued an order to Senator Samuel Anyanwu, instructing him to stop presenting himself as the National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

This order came as a result of a lawsuit requesting an interlocutory injunction to prevent the PDP from recognizing Anyanwu as the National Secretary until the main lawsuit is resolved.

The lawsuit, with the reference number FCT/HC/M/015/23, was filed by Douglas Nwachukwu against the PDP, Anyanwu, and the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

Justice M.M Adamu has issued a restraining order against Anyanwu, preventing him from acting as the National Secretary of the PDP.

The order also applies to the PDP and INEC, who are not allowed to recognize Anyanwu as the National Secretary until the main case is resolved. The case will be heard on January 24, 2024.

Anyanwu was the PDP’s candidate for governor in the recent election in Imo State, but he lost to the candidate from the ruling All Progressives Congress, Hope Uzodinma.

Despite this, Anyanwu returned to his position as National Secretary at the party’s National Secretariat on Tuesday.

Before the election, some party members had called for Anyanwu’s resignation as national secretary.

On Tuesday, Anyanwu expressed his gratitude to party members for their support during the election when addressing the staff at the PDP National Secretariat.
