FCT, Abuja  – The Organised Labour has criticized former Governor of Edo State, Senator Adams Oshiomhole, for his lack of understanding regarding the ongoing nationwide strike.

This statement was made by the President of the Trade Union Congress (TUC), Festus Osifo, during an interview on Channels Television.

Oshiomhole had previously claimed in an interview that the strike is politically motivated. As the senator representing Edo North Senatorial District in the National Assembly, he urged organised labour to focus on workers’ rights instead of getting involved in politics.

In response to Oshiomhole’s remarks, Osifo stated that the former NLC President lacks sufficient information about the ongoing strike organized by labor unions.

The TUC President pointed out that Oshiomhole’s comments were solely based on information provided by the Presidency during their meeting at the State House.

Osifo criticized Oshiomhole for being preoccupied with national politics and suggested that he should have consulted union leaders to obtain accurate information before reacting.

Additionally, the TUC President refuted claims that Joe Ajaero, the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) representative, did not travel to Imo state on November 1 to address political matters.

He said: “Our senior comrade, Adams Oshiomhole, is giving an opinion based on the information he has.

“Today, he is a senator who is busy with national politics. I think he does not have sufficient information, maybe later we will give him as much information as possible, once he reaches out.

“He went to the villa to meet with them. That is the information that was given to him in the villa. Has he spoken to Joe Ajaero and senior labour leaders in the country to have their opinion?

“Maybe the information he (Oshiomhole) got from the villa was that he (Ajaero) went there to play politics.

“But I will tell him clearly that was not the case.”
